SCAVENGER HUNT
Each tribe will locate, outside, in the immediate area and woods 9
ziploc bags numbered 1-9. Tribes may trade with each other to end up
with 9 different bags. Bonus bags are hidden out there also, they are
not numbered.
Bags contain: Pocket Knife&Whistle&Compass/ Garbage Bags (2)/Pencil &
Paper & GS Law & 20 index cards/Toy troll or doll/Rope and string/

KNOT CHALLENGE
Each tribe will produce 4 correctly completed knots: Square, Bowline,
Clove Hitch and Figure 8. |

RAFT CHALLENGE
Each tribe will create one raft of string and twigs (only, no
balloons) found in nature. Raft must hold up the toy troll for 1 minute
in the lake. Troll and raft will be held by string from shore so we
dont lose them, but the troll can not be tied to the raft. |

FIRE CHALLENGE
#1 Each tribe will properly light a fire in the fire area, using the
tools provided, items from nature and following ALL safety rules. An
adult must be present. Light a fire in the designated fire pit, that
will burn a string 12 above the fire. #2 start a fire using materials
provided or found, but not any matches (flint &steel avail.) |

AID CHALLENGE Each tribe,
using only their bandanas and things they find will produce a correctly
done ankle bandage, head bandage, arm sling with splint and leg splint.

TRIBAL ARTS
CHALLENGE #1 Each tribe
will produce a tribal totem pole using Girl Scout Cookie boxes (or
suitable substitute), a pole (provided) and art supplies (provided).
Each member of the tribe should be represented and their part of the
pole should tell something important about them. #2 Each tribe will
produce a tribal swap that represents their tribe in some way. They will
make enough for every girl in the other tribes (and themselves if
desired). Use art materials provided or things found in nature. #3 Each
tribe will produce a tribal skit or song that represents what their
tribe is about and gives a positive message. Swaps and skit/song will be
presented to the other tribes in the evening. |

SHELTER
CHALLENGE #1 Each tribe
using the trash bags and rope they have and items found in nature will
produce a shelter that will keep a piece of paper dry when a bucket of
water is thrown at it by the adults. #2 Each tribe will correctly put

GS LAW CHALLENGE
Each tribe will do one or more things for the other tribes that

GROSS FOOD
CHALLENGE Each tribe will
participate in snack at mid-afternoon. Each member of the tribe must eat
at least one bite.

GROUP
COOPERATION CHALLENGE ALL
tribes must work together on this to create a human caterpillar. Using
only balloons they have and no hands, they will place an inflated
balloon between each two people, form one long chain and walk around the
circular drive in Rambler. Everyone must remain connected and no
balloons can drop. |

MEAL CHALLENGE
Using only the ingredients provided, all tribes will work together to
produce a meal for everyone including the adults (who will be served).
The group will determine jobs, divide the work (including cleanup) and
make a plan for breakfast using the items everyone brought and assign
people to get up early and have it ready at 8am. |

CEREMONIAL
CHALLENGE #1 Each tribe
will correctly carry out a flag ceremony at the pole, using a color
guard and correctly folding the flag. #2- Each tribe will present a
Scouts Own ceremony for Sunday morning (Girl Scout Sunday). Make it
good, the Brownies may come watch. |

DISTRESS/SURVIVAL CHALLENGE
#1 Each tribe pretending they are lost in the woods and using only the
materials on them or found in nature will make a distress signal that
could be viewed by a search plane flying overhead. Be able to tell 2
things you would or wouldnt do when lost. #2 Complete the
survival
game, tokens awarded based on your tribal score |

CHALLENGE Each member of
the tribe will tell the adults the full name of everyone in the tribe
and 2 things about them from memory. |

COMPASS
CHALLENGE #1 Each tribe
will prepare a map/instruction sheet for another tribe to use to find a
specific item/landmark. Begin at a chosen starting point and using a
minimum of 10 instructions with the compass (20°
- take 10 steps, etc.) will lead them to a specific item/landmark. #2 a
tribe must follow another tribes map and find the item using the
compass. (each tribe making a map that is usable by the other tribe to
actually find the landmark. gets an additional 2 tokens. |

SPORTS CHALLENGE
Each tribe will invent a sport using items available at the tribal
center or found in nature. They will decide how to score and make a set
of rules. They will challenge another tribe to play the sport with them.

FASHION
CHALLENGE Each tribe will
produce a tribal outfit including a hat using only newspapers, masking
tape and markers. This will be worn over regular clothes and should be
removable so that is can be modeled at the evening ceremony . |

P B & J
CHALLENGE Each tribe will
determine ALL the steps in preparing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Ingredients provided. Use the 20 index cards and write one step on each
card (you may or may not use all the cards) put the cards in order.
While an adult watches one member of the tribe will follow each step
exactly to make the sandwich. They can only do what is on the cards, so
be sure not to miss any steps. |
